Speaking to Fox Sports, Lens confirmed he was in the Sunderland area for talks with the Premier league club, but is not undergoing a medical just yet.
Lens said, “I’m not having a medical examination, but I am in talks with Sunderland,”
“I have never made a secret of the fact that I like the Premier League. Despite Dynamo playing in the Champions League, now it seems like a great opportunity to make the switch.”
On being reunited with former AZ and PSV boss Dick Advocaat, he added, “We have previously worked well together at AZ and PSV. We know each other – that’s ideal. It’s not all there yet, but it should be clear that I am really keen on a transfer.”
The 27-year-old has a contract in Ukraine until 2017, and Sunderland may have to pay €20 million to secure the winger.
