Lens spent last season on loan with Fenerbahce and stated his happiness to remain with the Turkish side. However, that move failed to materialise and instead Lens will join their bitter rivals Besiktas.
At Besiktas, Lens will be playing Champions League football and line-up with fellow Dutchman Ryan Babel as well as Oguzhan Özyakup (ex-AZ) and Aras Özbiliz (ex-Ajax).
Lens had spells with NEC, AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven before he left Netherlands in 2013 for Dynamo Kiev. From there he was signed by Sunderland, but his time in England hasn’t been a success and he was loaned to Fenerbahce last summer, where he scored four times and added 11 assists. Lens returned to Sunderland this summer but their relegation to the Championship always meant remaining at the club wasn’t an option for the Dutch international.
