According to Voetbal International, talented midfielder Evert Linthorst will leave VVV-Venlo to sign for Al-Ittihad Kalba.

The 20-year-old is undergoing his medical on Saturday ahead of a €600,000 move to the United Arab Emirates.

It is a surprising move with Linthorst highly rated in the Netherlands and being closely followed by some of the top tier clubs in the country.

Linthorst, who has struggled for form recently told VI, “I am confident that I would find my feet again at VVV. But there are simply offers you can hardly refuse. I hear from many people that they did not expect me to take this step. I myself had not thought that for a few weeks either. But if something like that comes your way, you start thinking about it seriously.”

The youngster admitted that the financial reasons are a big factor, “Financially it is simply very attractive. You cannot earn these kinds of amounts in the Dutch sub-top. Maybe only at Ajax and PSV.”

Linthorst made 52 appearances for VVV, scoring seven times.
