Donny van de Beek may be heading out of Ajax with several of Europe’s top clubs chasing the midfielder.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with Chelsea in the English press over the weekend and according to Voetbal International, Manchester United, Liverpool and Roma are also interested.

Van de Beek came through the Ajax academy and has a contract until 2022 but he has had a disappointing campaign so far, with Erik ten Hag preferring Lasse Schone over the Dutch international so far.

Speaking to VI, Van de Beek’s agent Guido Albers confirmed an exit is being considered,  “It is true that this interest has been around for some time.

“Last summer it was already concrete, but Donny deliberately opted for a longer stay at Ajax. Unfortunately, everything has gone differently in the past few months than we had in mind. He is a young player who has to make minutes to continue to develop. Also with a view to his place as an international at Oranje.

Donny wants to win prizes with Ajax this season. We as management also look at the long term. If his situation remains that way for much longer, a departure is a better option for all parties.”

Van de Beek has made 97 appearances for Ajax, scoring 17 goals.
