The 17-year-old had a trial with Liverpool earlier in the year and was the subject of a failed bid from PSV in the summer, while Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax are all reportedly fans of the youngster.
However, Schuurs was made Fortuna Sittard captain at the start of the season and has shown his loyalty to the Eerste Divisie side by signing a new contract until 2020.
Schuurs told the club’s official website, “I think it’s really great that I get this chance and I’m proud to be contracted until 2020.
“I want to show that I am very aware of this club, and I feel really at home, and I feel the trust of the club, the trainer and the fantastic fans. That played an important role in making my choice to extend. ”
Schuurs has made eight appearances so far this season, scoring three goals and adding two assists. He is a Netherlands U19 international and featured in the recent European Championship qualifiers.
