toiv aAccording to the British paper, Liverpool want the versatile Swede to cover their injury hit squad, with the likes of Steven Gerrard recently ruled out.

The Mirror believe that Liverpool will give Toivonen the chance to impress, with a possibility of a permanent transfer in the summer, when the 27-year-olds contract runs out.

However, last month PSV confirmed that if no permanent transfer can be arranged in January, then Toivonen would sign a one year deal, with the Swedish international not wanting to leave on a free. You can read that story here.

A loan move is not an option for either Toivonen or PSV in January, and if Liverpool really want to sign the Swede then they will need to stump up the cash, although it may only take a fee of around €5 million to convince the Eindhoven club to sell.

Fellow Premier League clubs, Newastle United, Norwich City, and Fulham have all been linked with a move for Toivonen in January.
