Locadia, who came through the youth ranks at PSV, has been linked with a move abroad in the past but has decided to commit his short term future to PSV by signing a one-year contract extension.

The left winger told the official website “We are here [talks regarding contract renewal] since the beginning of the season. When I got injured I wanted to prolong with PSV, but I’ve been waiting here [for developments]. Now [the contract talks] have succeeded. I wanted to be fit. The next few years I hope to further develop. I would like to grow and especially to play a lot.”

Regarding a possible move abroad in the future, Locadia added “I first want to go through a year in which I can be a very important player.” He continued, “I used to think: I can post a good year with PSV to move abroad, now I think differently. A great example was Ruud van Nistelrooy. There you have as a young footballer he was great to watch, but was a mature player when he left for England. A right step is better than a quick step.”

PSV will now be hoping that Locadia, who recently returned from an injury sustained against Groningen in August, can kick on and become a valuable member of the team once again. Locadia, since his debut in 2011, has 104 league appearances for PSV scoring 33 times.
