Last week the Dutchman was linked with a move to Ajax, after Co Adriaanse said he would be the perfect signing for the struggling Eredivisie champions.
However De Jong has responded, telling German newspaper Express, “Ajax is currently not an option for me. Of course it is nice to hear that you are being followed.”
If De Jong did join Ajax then he would be united with his brother Siem, and although the move is not in his mind, Luuk does state its a dream of his to play in the same team.
He said, “It is a dream of Siem and me. For now I remain faithful at Mönchengladbach. I am having a difficult time, but I know my qualities.”
Since moving to Monchengladbach from FC Twente two years ago, De Jong has failed to hold down a starting place in the Bundesliga side, and has lost his place with the national side because of this.
So far this season, De Jong has only appeared four times for the German club, with all of them from the substitutes bench, and no goals scored.
Another player that made a horrible career move. He was awful at the u-21’s and should have put a few good seasons where he consistently scored 20+ goals in the Eredivisie. Hate to find fault but not every young player that has some success is a RVN, RVP, VDV or Robben. Prove yourself a few years. I fear the Dutch players are becoming lazy and taking big money at the 1st opportunity and that can be a major mistake in the long run.
