de jong psv aaThe 23 time champions of the Netherlands have been draw in group D along with Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and FC Rostov. However, PSV showed their quality last year when they reached the knockout stages at the expense of Manchester United and CSKA Moscow and Luuk de Jong feels his side can do it again.

De Jong told NOS, ”We have been drawn in a tough group with two European top clubs and FC Rostov too and we saw how well they played against Ajax it will certainly not be easy but in the Champions League all the groups are tough.

”If you remember how well we played against Atletico Madrid in the last 16 last season I am feeling confident about our chances and to play against Bayern Munich and such opponents in Europe is the reason I came to PSV Eindhoven and this is why you want to play in the Champions to test yourself against these teams.

”You want to become champions to put yourself in a position to play these games in Europe.”

PSV Eindhoven begin their Champions League campaign at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday 13th September.
