de jong lSo far this season De Jong has had to settle for a bench role at Gladbach, and is yet to score a single goal in the Bundesliga this campaign.

With the January transfer window looming, a move away from Germany seems likely for the Dutchman, especially if he wants to win a place at next summers World Cup.

A move back to Netherlands has been rumoured with Ajax, and PSV linked, while British sides Newcastle United, and Stoke City have also been credited with interest.

This week the 24-year-old’s future should be clearer, with talks between the player and the club scheduled to discuss whether a move in January should be made.

De Jong told Bild, “Next week my agent and father will go to meet sporting director Max Eberl”,

“We’ll see what happens after that conversation. You never know. In a transfer window things can happen very quickly.”
