Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has stated that Memphis Depay will not be leaving the club in January, despite interest from Barcelona.

Barcelona are widely expected to be interested in signing the attacker in January after a move last month broke down on deadline day due to the club’s finances.

Memphis is coming into the final months of his contract in France, but it appears that Lyon will not let him go.

Speaking to RMC, Aulas said, “I was the first who said that he would leave for Barcelona Nobody listened to me at that time during the transfer window, because everyone thought he would leave..

“We absolutely have to do well this season. We started the season badly, but have the qualities to perform much better. Memphis is very important in that, so he will stay with our club.”
