Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is hoping to convince Memphis Depay to stay at the club with a bumper new deal.

The Dutch international has been linked with a move back to the Premier League in the English press with Tottenham Hotspur said to be one of the interested clubs.

However, Lyon are hoping to keep the attacker, who was recently made captain and they plan to offer him a new contract.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Aulas said, “He is the one who ultimately decides. We will make him a new proposal because he is an exceptional player. But like all great players, he also has tricky characteristics. He is an endearing boy. He is not only a good player for me, but also an interesting person.”

The 25-year-old’s current deal with Lyon expires in 2021.
