Mark van Bommel has confirmed that both Cody Gakpo and Donyell Malen have been permanently promoted to the PSV Eindhoven first team.

The 19-year-old attackers both trained regularly with the first team last season and made their Eredivisie debut’s but both were mainly used for Jong PSV.

However, on his first day as head coach, Mark van Bommel has confirmed that both Malen and Gakpo will be part of his first team next season.

PSV signed Malen, who started his career with Ajax, from Arsenal last January, and he went on to score 13 goals in 22 matches for Jong PSV. Gakpo started last season with van Bommel and the U19’s but also made twelve appearances for Jong PSV, scoring seven times.

The young duo will compete with Hirving Lozano, Steven Bergwijn, and Albert Gudmundsson for a place in the attack.
