Donyell Malen finally netted his first Bundesliga goal as Borussia Dortmund defeated VFB Stuttgart 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Malen has been criticised in the German media so far for his performance but he was chosen to start up front on Saturday with Erling Haaland still out injured. The Dutch international was looking for his first league goal of the campaign.

Just after an hour, Malen did find the net to put Dortmund in front with a strike that took a deflection before finding a way past the Stuttgart goalkeeper.

The visitors equalised quickly before Marco Reus sealed the victory for Dortmund, who now close the gap on leaders Bayern Munich to one point.

Malen was substituted just before the end and he will be hoping that the goals will now keep coming after finally ending his drought.
