Manchester City has confirmed the signing of Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake on a five-year deal.

The centre-back has been on his way to Manchester City for weeks and the deal has now been officially confirmed.

The Dutch international has cost €44 million and has signed a contract until 2025. The 25-year-old now bolsters Pep Guardiola’s options at the back.

Ake started his career in the Feyenoord academy before joining Chelsea at a young age. Despite showing great promise, Ake never held down a spot at Chelsea and eventually made the move to Bournemouth in 2016.

Ake starred for the Cherries and became captain but could not prevent their relegation this season.

Ake now becomes the third most expensive Dutch defender of all time after Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk.
