Both Memphis and Blind have remained rooted to the bench for the win over Everton last weekend and Sunday’s Manchester derby, while they only had cameo’s in the Champions League draw with CSKA Moscow.
Speaking to Fox Sports after the Manchester derby, Van Gaal stated both players had been dropped after the disappointment Netherlands suffered in the European Championship qualifying, and challenged them to work hard to regain their place.
Van Gaal ended by praising the duo though, “They have very good abilities; very professional. I can not in that regard complain about my squad. This is not fun for them, but they continue to work hard. “
Both players should be starting from the bench as those who are playing in their position are doing well.
