According to The Sunday Times, Manchester United are hoping to sign Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek for €40 million.

On Saturday evening De Telegraaf reported Manchester United’s interest in the 23-year-old, who already has an agreement with Real Madrid.

However, the Spanish giants are now stalling on their €50-55 million agreement with Ajax due to the corona virus affecting their finances.

According to The Sunday Times, Manchester United have contacted Ajax to discuss the midfielder, and they are hoping to strike a deal closer to €40 million.

Director Ed Woodward  is hoping that Ajax will accept a lower offer should Real Madrid decide to pull out of their deal.
