The German side go into the second leg two goals behind and face an uphill struggle to reach the last four. Speaking at his press conference, Weinzierl urged his side to take risks and is hoping for an early goal.
He said, “Of course we are the underdog. We are 2-0 down from the first leg but it is still possible to go through whether that be in 90 minutes, 120 minutes or even penalties. We have to score quickly to get the fans behind us. We must go for it and take risks and threaten to be dangerous on the counter attack.
”In our recent league game against Borrusia Monchengladbach we were 2-0 down and we managed to turn it around and now we have 90 minutes to do the same again.
”We must plan better in a tactical aspect tonight than we did in the 1st leg against Ajax. We know that they play a smooth 4-3-3 system and that have individual quality in their attack. We must also show more aggression and be courageous as we did not show that enough in Amsterdam. If we score early then anything is possible.”
