The Dutch cente-back joined the Potters on loan from Porto in the summer and has excelled in the Premier League so far this season, making 25 appearances and scoring once.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has already stated that they are interested in making the loan permanent and Martins-Indi has now confirmed that talks are taking place.

He is quoted by Sky Sports, saying, “We are talking to each other, the club and me. I have the intention to stay. We want to see what is going to happen.

“I was following Stoke City before I was here and I knew the way the manager wants to play.

“He gave me a lot of confidence to come here and he trusted me. (I’m) happy that I could give him that back.”
