Three goals in the opening 22 minutes helped Excelsior to a 3-1 win over Heracles in Rotterdam.

The hosts raced out of the blocks and opened the scoring in the first minute with Khalid Karami firing past Bram Castro after good work by Nigel Hasselbaink. Heracles tried to find a way back into the game but Tom Muyters kept them at bay early in the second half before Vincent Vermeij eventually netted a consolation on the rebound. The win puts Excelsior up to fifth while Heracles drop to 11th.
