After a quiet opening period Go Ahead Eagles were awarded a controversial penalty on 25 minutes with referee Ed Janssen convinced that Simon Church handled in the box, but replays showed the decision was harsh on the forward. Kevin Brands stepped up from the spot to fire the home side in front.
The visitors tried to mount a comeback in the second half but failed to test Eagles goalkeeper Theo Zwarthoed and in the final minute Darren Maatsen sealed the win for Go Ahead with a nice finish after controlling a long goal kick.
Go Ahead Eagles move to 13th while Roda JC slip to 16th.
