Heerenveen moved into the Eredivisie top ten after a 3-1 win over 10-man Twente with Reza Ghoochannejhad netting a double.

hee-twe-goTwente lined up for the first time this season with Hakim Ziyech, who left for Ajax during the international break and the Enschede side missed his presence as Heerenveen dominated the first half in Friesland.

Ghoochannejhad had already been denied by Nick Marsman before he gave Heerenveen the lead on 34 minutes with a header at the back post from Stefan Marzo’s cross. Sam Larsson came close to adding a second before the break but his free kick came back off the bar.

The Swedish winger did find the net after the hour mark with a strike that struck the post before nestling into the net. Manchester City loanee Bersant Celina came off the bench to pull one back for the visitors but any chance of a comeback was ended when Hidde Ter Avest saw red for a second yellow.

In added time Ghoochannejhad added a third with a tap-in to seal the win which moves Heerenveen up to sixth, while Twente drop to tenth.
