The Rotterdam side went into the game with four wins out of four but ADO Den Haag presented the league leaders with their biggest test of the season so far with Petkovic’s side also unbeaten.
Feyenoord began brightly and should have taken the lead early on but both Nicolai Jorgensen and Jens Toornstra both failed to get the ball over the line from a yard out. Eventually, Feyenoord made the breakthrough on 33 minutes as Dirk Kuyt slotted in after seeing his header parried by Ernestas Setkus. Moments later it was 2-0 with Jens Toornstra feeding through Jorgensen, who was offside, but the flag stayed down and the striker finished calmly.
ADO Den Haag brought on Mike Havenaar in the second half and they threatened a comeback when Ludciano Marengo fired in from close range with five minutes to go, but in stoppage time Karim El Ahmadi sealed the win for Feyenoord.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side maintain their 100% record but now enter a difficult week which sees them host Manchester United on Thursday before meeting PSV next weekend.
Great win today. 15 points in 5 games is awesome! Tough week coming up. Heck its a tough couple of weeks. Lots of games with the EL and Cup games added in.
