Steijn lauded his side’s spirit as they netted a 90th minute penalty to take a point away from Arnhem.

He said, ”You could very well suggest that we stole a point here today but we always kept believing and we created chances ourselves.

”As a squad, we speak quiet often about the need to stay in games even if we fall behind in games and we must always keep believing that we can get a positive result and that is one of the strengths of my team.

”In the five games we have played so far this season we have only lost to Ajax including having played away games against FC Twente, FC Groningen and Vitesse Arnhem where we have five points from those games. In terms of fixtures played it’s impressive.

”We were very relaxed coming here today having got seven points from our first four matches. There are other clubs that have only three points or no points at all. But I am particularly pleased with the way in which we have got our points so far this season.

”I thought we were more sluggish today than in previous games so far but it’s another point for us.

”Clint Leemans showed guts to take the penalty in the 90th minute. I believe that he has only missed one of his last 21 penalties. When he takes a penalty he mostly always scores.

”We hope to continue in this vein of form and we hope that with it we can accumulate many points.”
