VVV Venlo led 2-1 early in the second half, but after Gaston Pereiro equalised, they were reduced to ten men and ended up on the end of a heavy defeat.

Steijn said, ”I believe that is a shame that the scoreline ended up 5-2. We kept PSV Eindhoven at bay for an hour and even managed to take a lead.

”There were moments in this match that were crucial and we have now only lost twice this season against Ajax and PSV Eindhoven and in both matches, we lost it at crucial moments. That proves that we must gain more experience.

”We must also credit the opponent especially in the two games that we have lost this season.

”We must now look ahead to our next Eredivisie game against ADO Den Haag and that is once again a chance for us to pick up points.”
