After a turbulent week for the Dutch international, Memphis Depay scored two excellent goals and provided two assists as Lyon came from behind to defeat Guingamp 4-2.

In midweek, Lyon gave up a two-goal lead in the 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in the Champions League. Memphis Depay was whistled off by the home fans and was criticised in the French press for his performance.

Lyon boss Bruno Genesio was forced to defend the forward at his press conference on Friday and kept faith with him for the trip to Guingamp. That faith paid off with Memphis leading Lyon to a 4-2 victory.

Lyon were losing 1-0 at the break, but early in the second half, Memphis set up Houssem Aouar to make it 1-1. Aouar then returned the favour shortly afterwards as Memphis curled Lyon in front.

The goal gave Memphis confidence and he made it 3-1 with an excellent free-kick into the top corner from 30 yards. Maxwel Cornet ensured the victory for Lyon from a Memphis cross late on after Guingamp had pulled one back.

Memphis will now meet up with the Dutch squad on Monday as he looks to fire Oranje past France and Germany in the UEFA Nations League.
