Memphis Depay was the match winner for Lyon on Saturday but he wasn’t happy that he started the 2-1 victory over Angers on the bench.

The forward has been in great form for club and country recently but Lyon boss Brune Genesio left him on the bench for the trip to Angers. With his side struggling against ten men, Genesio brought Memphis on ten minutes into the second half and he provided an assist and goal in a 2-1 victory.

After the game, Memphis didn’t try to hide his anger at starting on the bench. He told L’Equipe, “I’m getting tired of hearing every time I made the difference.

“I do not always feel like a respected player. I finished the job every time, I am mentally strong. I have to accept the trainer’s decisions, but I am doing better. I should play every game. “

Genesio understood his player’s frustration, “He was disappointed and frustrated, but that applies to more players who did not start. He made the difference with his goal, his actions and his passes.”
