The French side reinstated Memphis Depay to the starting line-up after he missed the 7-1 win over AZ Alkmaar in midweek and the winger broke the deadlock just before the break with a close-range tap-in.

Eight minutes into the second half, Memphis netted his second, shrugging off a Metz defender in the box and then finding the corner with a low drive. On 74 minutes, Lyon went 3-0 up and the Dutchman was involved again as his cross was diverted into his own net by Iván Balliu and moments later, Memphis set up Alexandre Lacazette to make it 4-0.

Before the end, Memphis missed two good chances to net his hat-trick and was denied a penalty after going down in the box. Substitute Mathieu Valbuena added the fifth just before full time.

It’s the second league game in a row that Memphis played 90 minutes and his form continues to improve. Good signs for both Lyon and the Dutch national team.
