Memphis Depay stole the show with a hattrick in Lyon’s 4-1 win over Dijon in their Ligue 1 opener on Friday.

After Lyon’s Champions League run came to an end against Bayern Munich nine days ago, the club started their league campaign with a home clash with Dijon.

The visitors stunned their hosts by taking the lead after 14 minutes through Aurelien Scheidler. However, Memphis Depay then took control to lead the comeback.

In the 39th minute, the Dutchman equalised with a penalty before his excellent skill and cross caused Wesley Lautoa to score an own-goal minutes later. In first half injury time, Memphis then netted again to make it 3-1 at the break.

After 66 minutes, Lyon were awarded another penalty which Memphis scored to claim his hattrick. He was then substituted with twenty minutes left as Lyon saw out the 4-1 win.
