Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Friday that Everton have made a joint £40 million bid for Memphis and his Manchester United teammate Morgan Schneiderlin. English newspaper The Telegraph has refuted these claims by reporting that no official bid has been made, but added Everton are close to lodging an offer for the duo and are confident of sealing a January deal.
Memphis is certain to leave United in January, whether it be permanently or on loan, after falling out of favour with head coach Jose Mourinho. The former PSV winger hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season, and his four appearances have came as a late substitute.
Fenerbahce, Nice, Roma, Tottenham and Roma have all been linked with the 22-year-old but Everton are firm favourites.
