United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to trim his squad in January and has earmarked four players to offload with Memphis Depay among them. The other three named are Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian.
Memphis has been deemed a flop since his move to England in the summer of 2015 from PSV Eindhoven and has barely featured for the club since Mourinho took over. The winger has made three substitute appearances in the Premier League and handed only one start in the league cup.
Roma and AC Milan have both been linked with moves for the Dutch international.
Memphis should not go to Italy. It’s not a bad league. He should go to the German league. Someone who really wants this guy to succeed should tell him that!!! Italy would be a DISASTER. The German league does not have the depth of the EPL but still has a good offensive style that would help Memphis. Bottom line is this guy needs to play and a lot and where he can make mistakes without worrying he’s going to subbed. If he doesn’t get major playing time he will become another Castaignos or Babel in the making. This guys has all the raw talent to be world class. He needs to put the work into it and be allowed to play then he can go to a big club. Vision the KNVB has lost!!!!
I agree also. He is mention as the next “Robben”and he has all the qualities to be one. It is very sad to Oranje if lost him as many good talents over the years ….as what Mike said Castaignos,Babel….and if I may add Drenthe, Elia, emanuelson and so on.
As what every Oranje fans aware that now we are not performing at a standard where we should deserve. Partly the management and partly underperforming players. We noticed that our strength at winger left & right especially below expectations and we have surprisingly limited options.
Bottom line we need Depay at the left for a bright Oranje future.
I think he can do well in the Italian league. His style of play is fitting. Now, with all the rumours, if AC Milan does go after Memphis, El Ghazi and Bazoer it may be the best thing for Oranje. Three guys consistently playing football together and really knowing each other. I also love to think how good any team would be with El Ghazi and Memphis on its wings!
Yup. A team with Memphis & El Ghazi attacking left & right would be a phenemonal…..
This what happen to the dutch youth talents when they leave Holland to other leagues at an early age. How many wasted stars did the Oranje lost so far? It is better for the young players to stay in the eredivise for at least the age of 24.
Yep, completely agree. I am concerned that something similar is going to happen with Janssen….though of course, his work ethic consistency is far better than Memphis.
