Memphis Depay netted twice as Lyon defeated Toulouse 2-0.

Fresh from his goal against Portugal in midweek, Memphis was chosen to start up front due to the absence of Mariano Diaz. The Dutchman was the star of the show the last time Toulouse visited Lyon with his halfway line strike voted Ligue 1’s goal of the season and he once again took the limelight.

Halfway through the first half, Houssem Aouar burst through the visitors defence before setting up Memphis to fire in the opener. Just before the break, Tanguy NDombèle was brought down in the box and Memphis fired in the spot kick to make it 2-0 and seal the victory.

Three minutes before the end, Memphis was substituted to receive an ovation from the home crowd, who appreciated the efforts of the attacker, who has now netted four times in his last five games for club and country.

Lyon are now two points behind Marseille, who sit third and have the last Champions League spot.
