After missing the Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, Memphis was back in the starting line-up for the home tie against Dijon.

Lyon took the lead on 11 minutes through Corentin Tolisso and Memphis should have made it 2-0 soon after but from inside the box he could only fire wide. Dijon equalised on the half-hour mark and just before the break Memphis nearly scored again, with the winger shooting just wide again after a nice one-two with Alexandre Lacazette.

Dijon took the lead early in the second half, but Memphis helped inspire a comeback. The 22-year-old constantly drove at the Dijon defence and with ten minutes left he set up Tolisso to net the equaliser. His first assist since joining the club

Lyon netted a penalty moments later before Memphis almost had another assist but after playing through Lacazette with an excellent pass, the striker fired the ball wide. Nabil Fekir added another before the end to seal the win for Lyon.

Memphis will not play any part in the return tie with AZ on Thursday but the winger is showing signs of confidence again and although he missed two good chances in the first half, he recovered to create chance after chance in the second half.

He ended the game with seven shots, seven key passes, seven crosses, one assist, three completed dribbles and an 85.7% pass accuracy. More importantly, Memphis completed his first 90 minutes in club football since Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Norwich City in May last year.
