The winger is enduring a tough time in Manchester and was blamed by a section of the fans for a late equaliser against Chelsea on Sunday, after giving the ball away in the last minute which led to the counter attack that Diego Costa scored from.
Under the watchful eye of boss Louis van Gaal, Memphis lined up for United’s U21 side in their tie with Norwich City and played a major role in the game. Memphis tormented the Norwich defence with several dangerous dribbles, and ended the game with three assists. Dutch defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah netted one of the goals off of a Depay pass.
The winger will now be hoping that his eye catching performance will lead Van Gaal into giving him a bigger chance in the first team over the next few weeks, with FA Cup and Europa League football to come.
