Wijnaldum was dropped by Louis van Gaal because of a lack of game time at PSG, but he moved to AS Roma in order to fight for his spot. The midfielder then suffered a tibia fracture which means he will miss the tournament in Qatar.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Memphis said, “I’m always in contact with him. If something like that happens, it’s very bad. Then you sympathize, because he is a brother of mine. I see that he is now in a good position with a positive mindset. We all have ups and downs in our lives.
“I really had that with my serious knee injury. But he will definitely come out stronger here. We all wish him every success with that. We are also here to cheer him up by calling him and stuff like that.”
