The Premier League strugglers are without a manager after Aitor Karanka resigned on Thursday with the club sitting 19th in the table.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Guus Hiddink is top of the clubs wish list and they want the Dutchman to take control of the club until the end of the season and steer them to safety. The newspaper adds their belief that Hiddink is interested in taking over at Boro and is interested in the project of saving them from relegation.

Hiddink has been out of work since leaving his caretaker role at Chelsea at the end of last season but he was recently linked with the Leicester City job.

Steve Agnew is currently in charge until Middlesbrough appoint a new boss.
