The 29-year-old full back has only made six appearances for Swansea City this season, and last appeared in the Premier league in January. With first team opportunities set to be scarce, Swansea have allowed the Dutchman to join Middlesbrough as they look to earn promotion to the Premier League.
Tiendalli played for Utrecht, Feyenoord, and FC Twente before joining Swansea City in 2012. Over the past three seasons, Tiendalli has made 44 appearances for the Welsh side, scoring one goal.
Tiendalli has two caps for the Netherlands national team, last appearing for the Oranje in 2013.
