English Championship side Middlesbrough have announced the signing of Heerenveen winger Yanic Wildschut on a two-year-deal.

wildschutThe 22-year-old has struggled to break into the Heerenveen first team since joining from VVV Venlo in 2013, and he has been allowed to leave after the club agreed a £600,000 fee with Middlesbrough.

Wildschut started his career in the Ajax youth academy, but he failed to make a first team appearance and joined PEC Zwolle in 2010. A move to VVV Venlo followed a year later, with the winger making 61 league appearances for the club scoring six goals. After joining Heerenveen last summer Wildschut made 16 appearances and spent the end of the campaign on loan at ADO Den Haag.

Between 2012 and 2013 Wildschut made 10 appearances for Netherlands U21’s
