The Arsenal striker scored her 59th and 60th goals for Netherlands in their 3-1 win over Cameroon which sealed Oranje’s place in the next round of the World Cup. It also saw Miedema dethrone Manon Melis as Netherlands all-time top scorer.
After the game, Miedema spoke to Voetbal International about breaking the record, “In the end it was about the victory, but this is something that you as a player should enjoy.
“It’s nice that it’s already done after the second game. It’s not like I was really busy with it. Last week I played good football, today maybe a little less, but then two of them fly in. In the end I am very happy that I can help the team, now it is full focus on Canada.”
Asked if she felt pressure as the record approached, “But I never really felt that pressure, until the last few months when I was close to it and everyone thought it was done. I’m just happy that I have the record at a young age. I am 22, I still have ten years to go, I am sure that a few more will be added. On to the hundred. “
Great to see it, The Dutch women have been doing well!
