The former manager of FC Eindhoven who resigned last month in order to pursue a new challenge will be managing in the Eredivisie next season. He replaces Alfons Groenendijk who resigned as Excelsior boss at the end of the season.
Mitchell van der Gaag (44) stated on the Excelsior Rotterdam website ” This is a great step forward for me if I compare Excelsior Rotterdam to FC Eindhoven. It appears that in Rotterdam things are slightly bigger and the club is further on than FC Eindhoven”.
The coach will be aiming to keep Excelsior away from the relegation zone next season, with the Rotterdam club just surviving the bottom three on the last day of the season this year.
