Last summer, De Jong was heavily linked with a move to Club America, but at the last moment the striker turned down the move and decided to remain in Eindhoven for another year.
De Jong scored 31 goals for PSV Eindhoven last season and was the Eredivisie top scorer. He is now open to a move abroad and RDN Deportes are reporting Monterrey are “Very Interested” in signing the 28-year-old.
Monterrey are one of the biggest clubs in Mexico and won the CONCACAF Champions League in May.
It remains to be seen whether the former Newcastle United and Borussia Monchengladbach forward is open to joining a Mexican club, especially since he is a part of Ronald Koeman’s plans for Netherlands.
