The first half was a tight affair with Filip Kurto denying the home side the lead with a fine stop from Mats Seuntjens, while at the other end Guus Hupperts fired just wide from a tight angle.
NAC Breda took control in the second half, but Roda JC came close to opening the scoring with Mitchell Donald’s effort beating Jelle ten Rouwelaar but coming back off the post.
It was substitute Adnane Tighadouini who finally opened the scoring on 73 minutes, when he stole the ball on the edge of the box before smashing a shot past Kurto and into the bottom corner.
With three minutes left Kurto came out of his goal to clear the ball, but was tackled by Stipe Perica, and the NAC forward had an easy finish into an empty net to make it 2-0 and seal the win.
The three points sees NAC jump up to 9th in the table, while Roda JC remain in the bottom three.
