Utrecht soared into the top ten in the Eredivisie after hammering struggling NAC 5-1 in Breda.

nacutrboymNAC Breda had failed to win in their last eight league matches, and after only 11 minutes they were once again behind as Ruud Boymans slotted in Mark van der Maarel’s cross.

The home side equalised in spectacular fashion on 37 minutes with Jeffrey Sarpong rifling an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards. However that was to be the only highlight for NAC Breda in this match.

In first half stoppage time Edouard Duplan, who returned to the starting line-up after ten months out injured, restored Utrecht’s lead after a good knockdown from Boymans.

Less than ten minutes into the second half Boymans netted his second of the game to make it 3-1 which made the striker joint top-scorer in the league with nine goals so far this season. Seven minutes before the end Jelle ten Rouwelaar dropped a free kick into the path of Rubio Rubin, who made it 4-1 and just before the end Nacer Barazite added the fifth.

NAC Breda slip down to 2nd bottom while Utrecht climb to 9th.
