NAC Breda moved three points clear of the drop zone after a 6-1 win over Heracles Almelo.

The match was open from the start and NAC took the lead in the fourth minute when Angelino crossed for Rai Vloet to net at the back post. Brandley Kuwas missed a good chance for Heracles before Vincent Vermeij equalised in the 13th minute with a close-range finish.

In the 18th minute, NAC regained their lead as Thierry Ambrose fired past Bram Castro after the goalkeeper failed to deal with a corner.

The game then settled down after the frantic opening and NAC goalkeeper Mark Birighitti made some good saves before the break to keep the hosts ahead at the break.

Five minutes into the second half, Manu Garcia skipped past four Heracles defenders before slotting in NAC’s third of the game. Ambrose then hit the post with a header while at the other end, Birighitti saved excellently from Jamiro Monteiro.

In the 74th minute, Heracles were reduced to ten men when Tim Breukers received his second yellow card for a foul on Garcia.

From that point, Heracles fell apart. Mitchell Te Vrede made it 4-1 on 78 minutes after being set upby Mo El Allouchi, who added a fifth shortly afterwards. Umar Sadiq then made it 6-1 on his debut to complete the rout.

NAC are now 15th while Heracles are 12th.
