NAC went into the game five points adrift at the bottom with three games left. Feyenoord, who could seal third spot with a win started with Dylan Vente up front due to Robin van Persie being unfit, while Orkun Kokcu came in for Steven Berghuis.
Feyenoord started brightly and after Tonny Vilhena hit the post, Jerry St Juste opened the scoring in the eleventh minute. The defender found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Just before the break it was 2-0 as Benjamin van Leer parried Vente’s shot from distance into his own net.
NAC boss Ruud Brood decided to take off Mikhail Rosheuvel and Mitchell te Vrede at the break with Sydney van Hooijdonk and Sullay Kaikai coming on.
The changes didn’t help turn the game in the host’s favour and Jens Toornstra sealed Feyenoord’s victory with a double. Firstly the midfielder headed in from close range before he curled an excellent free-kick past van Leer.
It could have been worse for the hosts before the end but Toornstra smashed the post from close range.
The victory seals third spot for Feyenoord and a Europa League spot. For NAC, they could be relegated to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie on Thursday should Excelsior defeat ADO Den Haag.
