FC Utrecht appear to be shaking off their inconsistent tag of recent seasons and are gaining more notoriety in being able to close out games.
After setting up Utrecht’s second and scoring their third in the 4-2 win over Twente, in-form attacker Nacer Barzite, who was awarded man of the match, spoke of his determination to remain important for the club
Barazite told NOS, “I played up top with Sebastien Haller and of course it is demanded that you are important for the team and I am really happy when I can show that in a game like today. But it was a great team performance and that’s what counts.”
Barazite’s reaction when questioned about him appearing more serious and committed as a player, “Absolutely I think if you put yourself in a position to perform to the best of your ability then you can be pleased with yourself that you have given everything’.
Looking ahead to PSV away in Eindhoven next weekend with FC Utrecht’s current run of three consecutive wins Barazite added, “We are in a good flow are we have to try to keep that going and that must be possible against PSV. You see lately that we almost in every game have moments where we dominate and then do not always get the desired result. In the case away at PEC Zwolle where we played a really bad game and still won (2-1) maybe we needed that and since that game we are in a flow’.
On his favoured position, Barazite concluded, “In principal I am on paper alongside him (Haller). But I receive a free role to move off of him and drop in behind in the case of the goal today he won the header and I came from behind him. We have a good understanding with each other and in general I have a free role to play off of him’.
