At only 19 years old, Nathan Ake is set to be a member of Chelsea’s first team squad this season. Ake started his youth career at ADO Den Haag before moving to Feyenoord, and then onto Chelsea in 2011. The Dutchman, who can play in midfield or at full back, has made 4 appearances for Chelsea’s senior squad, playing a collective handful of minutes in both the Premier League and FA Cup, however, he spent most of his time playing with the reserve squad.
Late last season, Ake traveled with the first team squad to Champions League playoff games, however, he did not feature.
Ake has also represented the Netherlands at all youth levels, and will hope with this promotion, a call up from Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink will not be too far away.
