A second half Christian Santos penalty was enough for NEC Nijmegen to see off Utrecht 1-0 on Sunday.

In a freezing cold Stadion de Goffert the best chances fell to the visitors, but goalkeeper Benjamin Kirsten denied both Bart Ramselaar and Nacer Barazite.
NEC barely threatened Utrecht, but ten minutes into the second half they were gifted the lead when Yassin Ayoub stupidly fouled Navarone Foor in the box, and top scorer Christian Santos made no mistake from the spot.
Timo Letschert came close to the equaliser for Utrecht, but his free kick landed on the roof of the net and NEC held on for the three points.
NEC remain fifth in the table, while Utrecht are 10th.
