NEC Nijmegen have moved away from the drop zone after coming from behind to beat Heracles Almelo.

The home side went into the game on the back of five straight league defeats which had left the club edging close to the bottom three. After thirteen minutes, NEC were on course for another loss as Samuel Armenteros netted from the spot after Brandley Kuwas was tripped in the box.

However, NEC drew level on 27 minutes as Michael Heinloth raced to the edge of the box before picking out Julian von Haacke, who’s shot was deflected into the net. Six minutes later, the hosts led and it was Heinloth who found the net with an excellent strike from the edge of the box.

NEC remained in control after the break and they sealed the victory in the 68th minute as Heracles defender Justin Hoogma diverted a free-kick into his own net.

The win lifts NEC into 12th spot and level on points with Heracles who stay 10th.
