Netherlands u19 international Jay-Roy Grot netted twice as NEC earned a much-needed victory over FC Twente.

grot-necAfter the 5-0 defeat to Ajax last weekend, NEC coach Peter Hyballa rung the changes for the visit of fc Twente, with 18-year-old Jay-Roy Grot added to the starting line-up.

Grot made an instant impact by scoring the opening goal on 27 minutes, fooling defender Jeroen van der Lely before finding the bottom corner with a strike from just outside the box. The attacker then doubled the lead ten minuted later, cutting in from the right before sending a deflected strike over Nick Marsman.

Six minutes into the second half, Enes Unal pulled a goal back from close range after NEC defender André Fomitschow accidently diverted a cross into the strikers path. However, eight minutes later NEC restored their two-goal lead as a free kick ended with Dario Dumic firing past Nick Marsman.

Twente got themselves back into the game with ten minutes left after defender Mikael Dyrestam diverted Dylan Seys cross into his own net, but the visitors couldn’t find the equaliser before the end.

The victory lifts NEC up to 12th while Twente sit in sixth.
